Andrew is a barrister-at-law from Gray’s Inn, England and has been a member of the Malaysian Bar in since 1992. He was admitted as partner of Wong Lu Peen & Tunku Alina in 2000 and is currently the head of the dispute resolution team. Andrew’s principal practice area is in civil litigation, with an emphasis in insurance, property and banking law. 

 

With 28 years at the Bar, Andrew has vast trial court as well as appellate court experience.

Andrew was Deputy Chairman of the influential Court Liaison Sub-Committee of the Kuala Lumpur Bar Committee from 2007-2008 and prior to that, had served in the sub-committee for legal aid for several terms.

 

He was a moot judge for Malaysian Qualifying Rounds of the Jessup International Moot Court Competition 2009 and has served as a moot and memorial judge for the LAWASIA Moot Competitions from 2013 to 2020.

 

Andrew has been serving as a judge in the Strata Management Tribunal since July 2018, having been appointed by the Minister of Housing and Local Government.

Farah Deba

Farah Deba’s specialist area of practice is in inheritance & succession which includes estate and business succession planning, establishment of family trusts for Muslim & non-Muslims alike. She has assisted various clients to set up various charitable foundations, family & private trusts. Farah currently is also known for her experience in estate administration (whether as lead or instructing solicitor or otherwise) involving ultra and high net worth estate matters locally and across multiple jurisdictions.

 

Farah also has extensive experience in advising various financial institutions in respect of various types of banking & trade facilities (conventional and Islamic), property developers in respect of mixed integrated development (residential, commercial and industrial projects), foreign acquisition & disposal of assets in Malaysia, long-term lease and land development related arrangements in respect of various infrastructure & privatized projects locally and in the Middle East.

Farah was instrumental in the setting up of an Islamic financing unit of a co-operative society. She is also heavily involved in advising clients in various special projects for the development & construction of transportation hub, hotels & medical centers. Farah has recently been spearheading ‘special projects’ for the Firm that include conducting training/briefing sessions, reviewing operations processes and methodology, formulating readiness programs for clients that include manufacturing clients and service providers in respect of laws on data protection.

 

Farah is registered as a Mediator with the Bar Council Malaysian Mediation Centre. She is also a full STEP member (Society of Trust & Estate Practitioner) which headquarters is based in United Kingdom. She is the current STEP Malaysia Chair.

Elizabeth’s expertise is in the areas of conveyancing, banking & commercial law. She represents developers and end-users in real estate transactions, including providing complete legal support in real estate activities and property development, advising building owners in short term & long term leases of buildings and facilities management contract. 

Elizabeth also handles corporate files include advising in group rationalisation exercise and transferring of assets within subsidiaries and associates companies, distribution in specie, shares acquisition and shareholders’ agreement.
