Wong Lu Peen

Wong Lu Peen  is one of the two founders of the firm.  She was called to the English Bar in 1979 before returning to work in Malaysia in 1982 where she started her legal practice. 

 

She has more than 40 years of legal experience in various fields of the law. She has worked on numerous corporate restructuring exercises, international joint venture projects including local & foreign takeovers, mergers & acquisitions.  Her expertise includes advising various financial institutions on the re-structuring of non-performing loans after the 1993 Asian financial crisis.  

 

Wong Lu Peen is a notary public. 

 

Ms Wong is also a mediator registered with the Bar Council Malaysian Mediation Centre, the Singapore Mediator Centre, the Asian International Arbitration Centre in Kuala Lumpur and the Securities Industry Dispute Resolution Centre.  

 

She sat in various joint management committees for strata mixed developments in Kuala Lumpur.

  • Bachelor of Laws (Honours),  University of Reading 

  • Called to the English Bar at Gray’s Inn, England

  • Advocate & Solicitor of High Court of Malaya since 1983

  • Registered Mediator with the Bar Council Malaysian Mediation Centre

  • Registered Mediator with the Singapore Mediator Centre

  • Notary Public

  • Masters in Business Administration (University of Malaya

Dr Tunku Alina who founded the firm with Wong Lu Peen, is our Consultant effective from 1st January 2012. Her area of specialization is in investment & business law and Islamic Finance. She used to accompany clients to Sierra Leone, East Kalimantan, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and advised in respect of projects in those countries as well as in South Africa, Papua, Aceh and Brazil. Her vast experience include advisory work in receivership & corporate insolvency and also shipping & maritime law. Clients value her for her knowledge of their business and operations and her intuitive knowledge of their requirements in the brief at hand.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Laws (Honors), the University of Malaya

  • Advocate & Solicitor of High Court of Malaya since 1987

  • Master of Laws Degree from the University of London

  • PhD in Islamic Finance from the International Centre for Education inIslamic Finance, Kuala Lumpur
